Springtime in Minnesota

The temps are soaring into the upper-forties, and I think a saw a robin this afternoon.  It has been a long cold winter, but the thaw has begun.  I don’t know about you, but I tend to be a little more social as the weather improves.  After hunkering down under a pile of blankets for six months, I like to get out into the sunshine and say hello to old friends.
If you are feeling the urge to renew some acquaintances or make a new friend, MACS has some opportunities for you.  We will journey to the far reaches of Eden Prairie on April 23rd to celebrate BurgerQuest at Lion’s Tap.  Meet us there at 6:30 or carpool from the church at 6:00.  Over the next few months, we will test the burgers at Ward 6, Shamrock and Pat’s Tap (I love any restaurant with tap in the name.)  We will also put our barbeque skills to the test with a picnic in Patrick Egan Park in June.
If you are feeling really social, join our executive committee.  We are in desperate need of a vice president.  The duties are pretty light—attend a couple of planning sessions over the year, and replace the president next year.  That job is pretty easy too.
If you are interested in any of these opportunities, or you just feel the need to chat with someone now that the snow has cleared, give me a shout.
See you soon,
Tim

Feed The Body, Feed the Soul

I missed an executive committee meeting a couple of months ago.  Not being present to quash my nomination, I was elected to head MACS this year.  In my first act, I have changed the titles of our officers.  I will serve as Big Burger.  Mark Krueger, our second in command, is the new Vice Burger, and Scott Apple will provide support and mentorship as Burger Emeritus.

Speaking of burgers, BurgerQuest convened last Tuesday at Sandy's Tap.  Reviews so far have been mixed.  Some were impressed, some, not so much.  Register your vote on the blog. In July, MACS will host a BurgerQuest barbeque at Patrick Eagan Park to welcome Pastor Rory.   If you aren't on the BurgerQuest invitation list, contact me.

Of course, it's not just about the burgers.  MACS volunteers are helping install the deer fence around the community garden and keeping the lawn mowed at the Lewis House.  We are raising funds and building desks for schools in Haiti and hosting the coffee bar during church services.

Looking for something a little more cerebral?  MACS hosts a Tuesday morning book club.  Show up at Panera at 6:30 or contact Mark Krueger for details.  MACS also meets on Monday evenings at 6:30 at Pardon My French to analyze the spoken word, and we walk off those burgers on Saturday  mornings at the Eagan Community Center.

There are a number of great ways that you can connect with the guys in our church and get involved in this great community.  Get in touch with me or show up at any of our events.  I look forward to seeing you soon.

Welcome to the MACS blog

MACS shall be a creative, supportive fellowship of men who seek to know Jesus Christ, to grow spiritually and to seek daily His will. Its primary purpose is to declare the centrality of Christ in the lives of men and in all their relationships while bringing fellowship, involvement in the church community, and creating a warm welcoming environment for men of all backgrounds.
